A Brief History of our Parish

Saint Patrick’s in North Kansas City, MO, encompassing south and eastern Platte County to the Missouri River, was established July 1, 1924 by Bishop Francis Gillfillen.  Reverend William F Gott was the first Pastor.  Mass was celebrated at a Knights of Columbus hut in North Kansas City & a chapel at Diester’s Junction, situated halfway between Kansas City and St Joseph.  Lots on Iron Street from 24th to 25th streets were purchased in 1929 and a basement church facing Iron was built.  In 1951, a school addition over the church was built.  This served as St. Patrick Church for 30 years, until another church/school was built in 1960 on the current 42nd street property.  The current gymnasium served as the church for 36 years.  The current Parish Office building – once the parish rectory – was built in 1979.  On October 28, 1995, the new church (and current worship space) was formally dedicated.  On June 2, 1996, the gym remodeling was complete and used for its original purpose of parish center/gym.  In 2007/2008 our school was completely renovated, and completed on August24, 2008.
