For the past couple of months we have been working on consolidating our online presence with the school. What you are seeing here are the results of that consolidation. By making the changes we are able to more fully customize the Parish website into a design that is more fitting for our Parish and our Catholic community.
The new site is still under construction with more features to be added soon. If you see something that isn’t working, please email email@example.com.
You may have noticed those rainbow bunnies posted at the entrances to the Parish and School, but do you know what they are for? They are the Google Fiber bunnies and they are there because St. Patrick School is scheduled to get a Google Fiber internet connection for free. The fiber connection will be installed sometime between late June and mid December.
Google Fiber is a new kind of internet connection providing internet speeds up to 100 times faster than the fastest speeds offered by Time Warner or AT&T. For those with a smaller budget but needing high speed internet services, Google Fiber also offers a free internet connection. For the free connection you will be required to pay a $300 installation fee (can be paid in full at time of installation or spread out over a 12 month period at $25 a month). The free service will provide internet speeds of 5mbps down and 1mbps up for 7 years (or 6 years if paying the installation fee over a year).
The standard internet service will cost $70 a month for home users (is free for the school) and will provide internet speeds up to 1000mbps both up and down. To compare, a connection from Time Warner providing 30mbps down and 5mbps up cost $60 a month. The installation fee is waived for the standard connection.
While waiting for the installation of Google Fiber at the School, the Parish and School Technology Committee is working on finding a way to connect the Parish Office with the School to share internet and local network resources. If accomplished, this will save the Parish and School from having to pay for a 2nd internet connection just for the Parish office.
If you are interested in getting Google Fiber for your home, the signup deadline for the Northeast of KC is June 20th 2014. You can sign up and learn more at www.fiber.google.com.
